Sewing Terms Starting with Letter I

Information display
Display of sewing machine shows you information needed for proper working. Display is most expensive detail. The larger size has information display the higher price of sewing machine.

Inseam
Inseam. This term refers to inner seam on trousers (pants) between legs.

Inseam Pocket
Inseam pocket is sewn in side seam of dress and other garments.

Interfacing
Interfacing is material that used to stiffen fabric and strengthen seams. Interfacing keeps a shape of garments fabrics from stretching it.

Inverted Pleat
Box pleated skirts have little pleats around a waist. Skirts may have one or more inverted pleats. The folds can have different widths depending on cell size of plaid fabrics and your desire. Wider pleats are so fluffy looks skirt. So a skirt with pleats can to hide some flaws of female figure.

Invisible Hem
An invisible hem stitching is used to hem skirts, trousers etc. The invisible hem stitching can be done manually or using a sewing machine with special presser foot.

Invisible Zipper
Invisible zippers are most used for sewing women's garments: dresses, skirts etc. These zippers are called 'invisible' because they are placed under folded fabric edges.

Iron
An iron is used to straighten or pressing fabrics or garments. Modern irons have a steam function.

Ironing Cleaning Stick
Ironing cleaning stick is used for cleaning an iron soleplate. Using this pencil be careful. It has strong smells and dripping with hot drops.
